The video excerpts below include dances, song, and scenes from a 2007 production of Justy Fairfield’s drama Triffina and the Queens of Conomor, based on a Breton legend and staged by the King of Prussia Players in Upper Merion, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. Some of these videos were shot with an analogue camera during a dress rehearsal; others were videographed during an performance before an audience.
The play consists of a total of eight scenes — four in each act. Excerpts from the first six scenes are included here.
ACT I Scene 1 Introductory Song: “Across the Tides” Minstrel (Click for lyrics.)
How swiftly does a lifetime pass in story and in song!
How quickly does a life’s dream fade when things start to go wrong!
For Conomor, King of Cornwall, across the tides did come,
usurped the Throne of Domnonée, and now our tale’s begun!
No deed this tyrant will not do; no warning will he heed.
His goal’s to snatch up all this land — no limit to his greed!
Oh, Conomor, you’ll gain no more than is your destiny;
Although you sin, this crown to win: High King of Brittany!
